Morning Announcements

Congratulations to the members of the instrumental music class for an outstanding show. The R-Evolution concert really rocked the house.Great job and thanks to everyone who helped with it.

Any 6-11th graders interested in trying out for cheerleading for the 2008-09 school year should attend a mandatory meeting Monday (5/12) 3-3:20pm in the Library.

Students interested in being the Master of Ceremonies for Graduation, your paperwork must be turned in to Mrs. Richardson (M-345) by 3pm today (5/12).

Cross Country conditioning will resume Tues. (5/13) Runners that are conditioning there is NO conditioning today (5/12).Coach Mr. Hollinger will see you tomorrow.

Seniors all the tickets for graduation have been accounted for.Mr. Scott will not accept any more requests for additional tickets.

All library books are due tomorrow (5/13). If you need to use a book for an end of the year project see the library to renew them before the due date.

We are looking for six dependable students who are interested in working closely with Mr. Young and Mr. Locke next year to provide computer and other technology support throughout the school. Auditions for Vocal Ensemble will be held next Thursday, May 15, 3-5 pm in the Chorus Room. These are open to any student (8-11). You will be asked to learn a dance combination at the audition and to sing a prepared song of your choosing. Please sign up on the Chorus Room Door. See Mr. Mackintosh or Ms. Kelsey for more information.

We will play the PKY Celebrating 75 Years video through the closed circuit channel 71 on this Morning at 8:20 am for elementary school and 8:40 am for secondary.The video will last for about 9 minutes.If you do not have the video CCTV in your classroom, please e-mail David Young.He will loan you a copy to play in your classroom.

Talent Show Auditions will be held today after school today (5/5) in the Elementary Chorus Room for Thursday’s (5/8) Spring Arts Festival. See Mr. Roberts or Ms. Murphy if you have questions.

Congratulations to the Thespians Troupe who just returned from a tremendous 4 days competing and participating in the Florida State Thespians Festival, the largest of its kind in the world. Excellent Scores went to Brittany Stokes for her monologues and to Elizabeth Johanson, Carolina Rodriguez, and Brittany Stokes for their ensemble acting piece, and the cast and crew of the One Act play, Born to Be Blue, received an Excellent rating for their overall performance and a Superior score for their technical work.Superior Scores went to Meredith Rogers for her musical solo, to Jessie Cooper, Mariel Mena, and Anna Dvorak for their small group musical, and to Liam Fitzgerald, Logan Hamilton, Paul Rye, and Brittany Kelly for their small group musical.
Thespians Officers please come to Ms. Hill’s office during lunch to finalize details for the awards ceremony.

Congratulations to the Cast & Crew of 42nd Street. It was a total success with sold-out performances and standing ovations. Many people felt that it was our best Musical yet. Special thanks to all the Teachers for all your support and who made it such a success!

Morning Announcements

Congratulations to the baseball team for a great season? The team battled Keystone Heights last night to a 10-9 loss but finished the season with 16 wins and 12 losses. The coaches are proud of the team this year and look forward to a great summer and season next year!

Ice cream will be served during lunch on today, (4/30), to all those students who made the A/B Honor Roll for the 3rd nine weeks.

Congratulations to the National Honor Society. They were awarded the 2008 Youth Group Volunteer Award at the volunteer Work of Heart banquet. This honor was a result of their Operation Shoebox.

A Reminder to students that you must be off campus by 3:10pm each day.If you are not picked up by then, you will be given lunch detention. Please discuss with your parents where they are to meet you for Pick up, (Elementary top circle or Secondary lower circle by the gym.)

Congratulations to the Softball team they had a great season.

Congratulations to the baseball team for defeating Chiefland 2-0 yesterday (4/22) in the district tournament! The team will now play Williston in the championship game Thursday (4/24) night at 7:00 at Ft. White.

There will be a meeting for all football players after school on today (4/23) in the weight room after school. Be there if you plan to be a part of PK Yonge football in the fall.The meeting will last about 20 minutes.

Cheerleaders are selling delicious snow cones for $1 at the cafeteria every Tuesday and Thursday after school.

Lacrosse team members your uniforms were due last Friday (4/25) please be sure to turn them in the Ms. Barrett or Ms. Palmer this week.If you didn’t attend the banquet stop by and see Ms. Palmer.

Softball team plays in the regionals here at home tonight. 4/22 vs Keystone at 7pm.

Congratulations to the baseball team for their 18-14 victory over Newberry in the district tournament. The team will play today (4/22) against Chiefland at Ft. White. All players should be released at 12:30, the game is at 4pm.

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team for their big win over Union County 9-4 Friday (4/18) night? The team would also like to thank everyone who came out and supported the seniors, CJ, Alex, and Andrew as they played their last regular season home game. District playoff today (4/21) at Newberry at 4:00. Wish them luck!

There will be an In-School Rehearsal today (4/21) for the cast of 42nd St. There will be limited crew involved and no orchestra vocals. Make sure that you check in with your Homeroom teacher and then report to the foyer of the PAC.

Morning Announcements

Congratulations to both the boys and girls track and field teams on their district titles.
Event district champions for the squad were:Kadeidra Jackson won the 200m dash,
Kylee “the destroyer” Skidmore scored 40 points and won every event that she was entered in. She won the pole vault with a personal best of 11 feet, she won the 400 m dash, 800m run and was on the first place 4x800 m relay. Juliana “the senior” Hughes won the 300 m hurdles, Meghan Roberts, Morgan Brown, Erika Daugherty and Kylee Skidmore crushed the competition in the 4x800 m relay, Whitney Mendez, M’Kayla Lumpkins, Asja Long, and Ivi Crawford won the 4x100m relay. Zari Whittaker, Stephanie Denardo, Erika Daugherty and Kadeidra “the incredible” Jackson won the 4x400m relay.

On the boy’s side: Jordan Shannon won the 400m dash. Emmanuel Payne won the 110m hurdles and 300 m hurdles. JT Mallory won the high jump and long jump. Lexley Shelton won the discus throw. This was the boys seventh straight district title and the girls second district title. Great job Blue Wave track and field.

Special thanks to Ms. Bearman for coming out to support the team.

Congratulations are in order to Ian Wallace, Byron Burdette and Alex Otero for performing as guest artists with the U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors this past Thursday night at the Phillip Center for Performing Arts. The packed house enjoyed a great evening of music and entertainment with the culmination of our members joining the band to play the Big Band classic "In the Mood". Congratulations to Alex, Ian, Byron and Mr. Porter.

The Scholastic book fairs starts tomorrow (4/15) and runs thru Friday (4/18 in the Library.Times are 8am-3:30pm and Thurs (4/17) Family night 3:30-7pm.

Help the Parent Teacher Organization decide on their next t-shirt design! The finalists designs are posted in the glass case outside the front office and also on posters around the Middle/High school wings. Make a point to check out the designs that a few of our very own students created, you will be voting on Tues. (4/15) in your home room.

Students interested in taking driver’s ed this summer should stop by the guidance office to pick up an application today (4/14) or tomorrow (4.15).The applications should be returned to the traffic safety center as soon as possible to be sure to get a spot in the class.You must be 15 by June 7th in order to enroll in summer driver’s ed.

April is National Poetry Month. Please come to the library to see selected poetry books in display. Our featured Author of the month is Emily Dickinson.

Santa Fe Community college will be hosting “Senior Night 2008” on Wednesday 4/16/08 from 6 to 8 pm. High school seniors and their families are invited to SFCC for an evening of tours, interest sessions an program information.

Students remember to take care of all overdue books and fines in the Library. (over 20 high students and over 45 Middle school students)

Tickets are for sale for “42nd Street” $10.00 students and $15.00 for adults.The box office is open everyday. 1:30-3:30.

Student you have another opportunity to get Community service hours.Students are needed to be a part of the backstage crew for the production 42nd Street.They need 10-15 dedicated stagehands.For more information see Mr. Macintosh or Mr. Davidson.

Morning Announcements

Baseball continues to play tomorrow (Sat. 4/5) in the Alachua County Baseball Championship. We play Newberry at GHS, 1pm.

Softball will be playing next week in the Red Devil Classic tournament.

Track team members who are finished competing turn in your uniforms to the front office by today (4/4)

Lacrosse players: please turn in your uniforms, (that includes top and shorts), to Coach Barrett or Dee Palmer by today (4/4).
