CONGRATULATONS: To the Girls Volleyball team they won the Regional quarterfinal match last night (11/4) vs St. Johns Country Day School. We host the regional final Tues. (11/10) at 7pm. Vs Jacksonville Providence HS.
CONGRATULATIONS: A HUGE congrats to Ailin McCollough for making the All-State Middle school band and Tirzah Etherton and Ben Rocha for being accepted into the All-State Honors Band. These three students will be traveling to Tampa in January to perform with the best musicians in the state of Florida! Congrats & thanks for representing PK’s band in such a great way!!!
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY: Middle School National Junior Honor Society will meet Thursday, 11/5, during MS lunch in Mrs. Weller’s room.

10th GRADE T-shirt design: The deadline for submitting T-Shirt designs for the Sophomore T-shirt has been extended to Thursday, November 5th. Designs must be turned in to Tyler Lattimore by today (11/5) – designs must be on a sheet of paper so they can be placed on the ballot for voting by the Sophomore Class.
High School and Middle School (8th grade only)- DEBATE CLUB: We had a large group of students show up at the Debate Club interest meeting last week! If you couldn’t make the meeting, please note the NEW meeting times going forward. This group will meet WEEKLY in Ms. Hamlett’s room during lunch. The 8th grade team will meet on THURSDAYS at lunch, and the high school team will meet on WEDNESDAYS at lunch. It’s not too late to join so please come if you can! If you have a conflict, please try to stop by briefly.
ZOMBIE AWARENESS CLUB: Do you want to learn how to prepare for a zombie invasion? Do you want to prevent one from happening? If you answered yes to these questions, come to the Zombie Awareness Club informational meeting in Mrs. Heller’s room (0-361) Friday (11/6) during HS lunch. The only requirement to become a member is a desire to learn about and prevent zombie invasions.
EUROPE TRAVEL GROUP: Mandatory meeting on Friday (11/6) for International club members and all students going to the Europe trip this summer. In Mrs. Santiago’s room Z-1427 During HS lunch.
CURTAINS: There will be Call-backs for the musical, Curtains, Tuesday, (11/10) from 3-5pm in the PAC. These call-backs are only for certain characters. There is a list posted on the Chorus Room door of the people who need to attend.
HERPITOLOGIAL SOCIETY: will not meet today (11/5)
PKY HOMECOMING: this week (11/2-6) is P.K.’s homecoming week. Dress up days- Thurs. Sports Day, Fri. Spirit Day. (remember to dress within the Dress code and the theme of the day). High Tide is Thurs. (11/5) 7:00 in the Gym, cost is $5.00, Parade is Fri. 9am starting at the north field proceeding thru the front circle then down to the Gym. PKYPTO Fall carnival is Friday 4-7pm, Art Gallery will be open Friday 4-7pm. Football game Friday at 7:30.
HIGH TIDE: The Gauntlet is coming to P.K. tonight (11/5) @ 7pm. Tickets are being sold in front of cafeteria-$5.00 during high school lunch. See Kayleigh Estes, Laura Warner, Allison Cattefesta, Athena Gravois or Jessica Bastein” (tickets will also be available at the door.)
PKYPTO Fall Carnival: is Friday 4-7pm, on the north field, Tickets for the carnival will be on sale after school on the front circle Thurs 4:15-5:30 and , Friday before school and until 3pm after school, for the price of 4 for $1.00. At the carnival they are 3 for $1.00.
PARADE: is Fri. 9 am starting at the north field proceeding thru the front circle then down to the Gym.
BBQ Friday (11/6): Homecoming Tailgating BBQ hosted by David’s BBQ and the Cheerleaders! On Friday, November 6th from 5:30 until kick-off, the cheerleaders will be hosting a BBQ Tailgating party. Tickets are $8 and include a FULL meal! You will get a large plate of chicken, pork, coleslaw, baked beans, garlic bread and tea or lemonade! Veggie Lasagna is also available this year! Please see any of the cheerleaders of Coach G to get your tickets before Friday for you and the family before the BIG GAME! We hope to see all of you there!
HOMECOMING DANCE: 100 TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY 4PM THURS. (11/5) “The homecoming dance is Friday Nov. 6th from 9-12. Tickets are being sold in front of the cafeteria during high school lunch. Cost $5.00. Only high school students may purchase tickets. You must purchase tickets in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. See Morgan Brown, Jasmine Van Hamersveld to purchase tickets. Visitors coming to the homecoming dance need to fill out a permission form. The paperwork can be picked up from the leadership class.
KEY CLUB: Key Club members: Dues are overdue! If you have not yet paid, please bring your money to Ms. Andrews or Mr. Lemstrom as soon as possible. Also—if you signed up to work a shift at the dunking booth tomorrow, please be at the booth on the north field a few minutes BEFORE your shift is scheduled. There will be a Key Club meeting during high school lunch on Tuesday (11/10)in Ms. Andrews’ room (O-362). All members, please plan to attend.
RED WHEEL FRUNDRAISER: Pick up orders is Tues. Nov. 10 from 2:30-6pm from the Cafeteria.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS: If you plan to dual enroll for a course at UF this spring, your paperwork must be submitted to UF by November 20th. Information and forms may be found at: http://www.cpet.ufl.edu/DCE/
LACROSSE: We will have our first Lacrosse meeting for the 2010 season on Wednesday, November 18th at 5:30pm in the PK cafeteria. All prior team members, their parents plus any interested students and their parents should attend this very important meeting. And because this meeting is scheduled for the dinner hour…Pizza will be served!

YEAR BOOKS: It's that time of year again. The P.K. Yonge Yearbook is on sale now! You and your parents will receive your yearbook order information in the mail. You can also order online at jostensyearbooks.com. See Mrs. Casey in L-354 with questions.
FALL DRAMA PRODUCTION: The High School Drama Department is presenting Oscar Wilde’s classic Play, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
“Bernard Shaw, a drama critic in Oscar Wilde’s day, summed up Wilde’s gifts by writing, “In a certain sense Mr. Wilde is to me our only thorough playwright. He plays with everything: with wit, with philosophy, with drama, with actors, and audience, with the whole theatre.” Performances are Friday 11/20 at 7pm and Sat 11/21 at 2 and 7pm. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students. They will be sold through ticketmaster, and The Box Office will be open every day starting 11/16 from 2:30-6. On 11/20 it will be open from 2:30-7:30 and then on 11/21 from 1-2:30 and 6-7:30.
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: Student volunteers are needed for the PKY fall carnival on Fri (11/6). Please come check the community service information board in the school counseling office (guidance) for this and other community service opportunities!
COLLEGE VISITS: The list below is the presentation for the remainder of 2009. You must sign up in the school counseling office (guidance) to attend these presentations. There is a cap on the number of students who may attend each presentation, so don’t wait to sign up.
